Moto Morini Corsaro 1200
After being almost bagged by Paulo Berlusconi last time around, Moto Morini is back on the auction block for a base price of 5.5 Million Euros. For that money, the buyer will get to use the appropriate intellectual property, assets, and equipment except previously assembled motorcycles, which will be sold separately. The auction of the Italian motorcycle and scooter maker is scheduled on the 13th of April, this year.
A cut price offer also thrown into the equation with buyers having the option of buying Moto Morini’s production complex for a base price of 2.6 Million Euros. Now, Mahindra Two Wheelers and TVS are two Indian motorcycle makers looking to expand their portfolio of motorcycles by launching higher capacity motorcycles and also having a larger global footprint. Bajaj Auto did something similar by buying into KTM, of whom it now holds a controlling stake.
So, the Moto Morini acquisition might perhaps open up newer possibilities for Mahindra and TVS. But before all of this, they would have to navigate the precarious issue of Italian Auto Unions who were responsible for the previous scuttled takeover attempt by the Berlusconi-Garelli combine. Interested, Mahindra/TVS?
