The city of Chennai now gets its own Porsche dealership. The German sports car makers fourth showroom was inaugurated in the presence of Mohamed Rahman, After-Sales Director, Porsche Middle East and Africa. The new facility will house five models including, Boxster S, Cayman S, 911, Panamera and Cayenne. Since, all these cars are custom made according to customer order, the delivery time for each vehicle is 500 days.

This was also an opportunity for the company to launch the 2011 Porsche Cayenne in India. The car that was introduced in the Chennai market on Thursday was priced between Rs.59 lakh and Rs.2.50 crore. Mr.Rahman also stated that the Panamera Hybrid will also debut in the country in a few months.

“We hope to sell around 500 units this calendar year, up from 131 units sold last year. The order book position till mid February is 217 units,” Ashish Chordia, CEO of Precision Cars India Pvt Ltd.

S. Rajiv Jeyabalan, Managing Director of Porsche Centre Chennai, said the company had planned to have eight centres in India and by the end of the year the company would be opening new retail outlets in Kochi, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh and Pune.
